Welcome to the Morgantown Public Library

Calling All Artists

The Morgantown Public Library is revamping for the new year and we are asking YOU to help. Create and submit a logo for a chance of it being adopted as our new symbol.

Harness your creativity and create something to WOW! The best five will be put to the vote by the public.

The winner will receive the first merchandise manufactured with our new logo and a bookshelf named in their honor.

You MUST complete a submission form to be submitted with your design. Forms can be found at the front desk or requested via email.

All submissions should be submitted to the attention of Jay Gummer.

The Annual Family Fireside Reading Challenge

Warm up with a good book and read, read, read!!!

Challenge begins on January 15 and runs for FOUR WEEKS until February 15

Read 10 books or 20 chapters each week to be eligible to win a weekly grand prize

Children (12 and under) can participate in this reading challenge with their families

Pick up a weekly reading log available at the library in January and read to your parents or have them read to you

Return your reading logs each week and get a slip to enter the weekly prize drawings

Reading logs with be displayed at the library

The Challenge begins on January 15, 2015

Tuesday Evening Pre-School Story Time

Winter Session

Story Times begin at 6:30 p.m.

Storytimes consist of books, games, songs, crafts, and refreshments.

Storytimes at the Library are FREE!!!

Children should be between the ages of two and six to attend.

Register by calling (304)291-7425 or stop by the circulation desk.

You MUST be registered to attend.

If school is CANCELLED due to weather and road conditions, Story Time will be CANCELLED too.

Winter Story Times

You are invited to join us at the Morgantown Public Library for six weeks of story times. The story times will begin on Tuesday, February 10 and end on Wednesday, March 18.



  • 10:00-10:30 2-3 yr. olds
  • 11:30-12:00 2-5 yr. olds


  • 10:00-10:30 2-4 yr. olds

For the 2 and 3 year-old session, the children must have a parent or caregiver with them.

You must be registered to attend the sessions.

Parents may reister their children at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 291-7425.

Space is limited.

Read-Aloud Stories from Ghana

You're invited to hear guest-speaker Emily Stiever of West Virginia Sun and others discuss the money-saving co-ops recently opened in Fayette and Monroe counties.

Speakers will explain how these co-ops work and field questions. Will Morgantown be next?

Come join man's best friend for a night of fun four-legged literacy!

Saturday, February 28th 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Reading Sessions are approximately 15 min. Children must be in kindergarten or older.

Therapy dogs and owners have completed Kennel Club classes and are members of Therapy Dogs Inc. Only readers, dogs and owners will be allowed in room.

Children must be registered to attend the sessions.
